The physicians of Premier Oncology Hematology are trained and experienced in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine. Oncology is the study of all cancers, including what are termed “solid tumors,” such as lung cancer, breast cancer, or colon cancer. Hematology is the study of blood diseases. These include non-cancerous disorders, such as anemia and blood clotting problems. Hematologists also treat a number of cancers of the blood and bone marrow, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Because of the nature of blood disorders and cancers, physicians often receive training in both of these fields of medicine. In fact, many doctors go through a combined Hematology/Oncology training program and are Board Certified to practice both.
