Billing & Insurance
Representatives from our Billing Department are available Monday through Friday to assist you with any billing concerns and to address questions regarding insurance policies, coverage, co-insurance, deductibles, and prescription benefits. Contact us directly at 219-736-2800.
We participate in most commercial and Managed Care insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid. If you are a member of an HMO or Managed Care Plan, you must have a referral from your primary care physician for all visits to our office. Your insurance carrier will not allow us to provide services to you without the referral/pre-approval.
Most insurance companies require prior authorization for treatments and we will work with your insurance company to obtain authorization. Please allow 48 to 72 hours (per your insurance requirements) to obtain authorization.
Please let us know immediately if your insurance information changes in any way as it may affect your coverage.
For patients receiving chemotherapy, as a convenience, we purchase drugs from the pharmaceutical wholesalers and bill your insurance company. We have to pay the medication suppliers within a two-week period. Most insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid, reimburse the oncologist very close to our actual purchase price. We have to collect any co-payment or deductible due at the time of cancer treatment.
If there are special situations related to health insurance coverage, please talk with our billing staff to guide you through the various alternative billing arrangements.
